BMW has shared a preview of the first production car under its BMW Alpina subbrand, showing a camouflaged prototype based on the refreshed 7 Series during high-speed testing in Italy. The automaker’s video shows the sedan exceeding 186 mph, while its stated focus remains on delivering a smooth, comfortable ride rather than a track-oriented experience.
The prototype features Alpina’s signature 20-spoke wheels, fitted with specially developed tires that contain an internal foam layer intended to improve ride comfort. At the rear, quad-oval exhaust pipes and a small spoiler distinguish the car from the standard 7 Series. BMW has confirmed that the model will use a V-8 engine, but has not shared further performance specifications.
The interior appears similar to the 7 Series, with a panoramic display and two dashboard screens. The prototype also has a four-spoke steering wheel, while its seats appear different from the standard model. BMW has not detailed the cabin materials.
The new sedan is expected to launch next year. It will be the first production vehicle from BMW Alpina since BMW took control of the company and re-established it as a subbrand.
