The Corvette is reportedly set to remain a range of V-8 sports cars after General Motors abandoned plans to expand the brand with additional body styles and powertrains. GM Authority, citing company sources, says the rumored projects have been scrapped, although GM never formally confirmed them.

The reported cancellations include a Corvette SUV, a model that had been discussed as a potential rival to the Porsche Cayenne. Plans for a fully electric Corvette were also rumored, as was a four-door fastback or sedan. Chevrolet already offers two hybrid powertrains in the current C8-generation Corvette, but the report indicates that GM’s upcoming EV platforms will not be used for Corvette-badged models.

The decision may be linked to softer demand for electric vehicles or concerns about how Corvette enthusiasts would respond to an SUV carrying the iconic name, though the reason has not been confirmed. Chevrolet representatives reportedly had no comment when asked about the speculation.

The existing C8 lineup continues to offer several variants, including the Stingray, Grand Sport, Z06 and ZR1. Chevrolet is also expected to continue developing future Corvette powertrains, while attention is already turning to the C9 generation that will eventually replace the C8. The company has previewed future Corvette designs with the California Corvette concept.
