Dodge will return to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2027, partnering with Kaulig Racing to field two entries based on the Charger. The manufacturer confirmed the plans to Car and Driver ahead of the 2026 SEMA show.
Dodge intends to join the series at the beginning of the 2027 season rather than spend several years developing its program before competing. The move means the team will refine its car and operations while racing. Dodge performance chief Tim Kuniskis acknowledged that the company has been advised it would need at least three years to develop a Cup car, and said Dodge understands it is entering before its program is fully developed.
Kuniskis said the cars, along with driver lineups and other details, will be announced on December 4. NASCAR event management president John Probst said he was comfortable with Dodge working through the challenges as it goes.
