A 16-year-old is under investigation after a routine speed check on the CEJ-5 road in Almería detected a vehicle travelling at 154 km/h, the Civil Guard said. The road, which connects Almerimar and San Agustín, has a speed limit of 60 km/h, making the recorded speed 94 km/h over the limit.

Officers from the Almería Civil Guard’s Traffic Subsector carried out the check on October 7. The teenager, who was driving without a licence, is a relative of the vehicle’s registered owner, according to the report.

The case has been referred to the Traffic Investigation and Analysis Group (GIAT) and, after the teenager was identified, to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office in El Ejido.

The Civil Guard said driving without a licence—or knowingly allowing someone who does not meet the legal requirements to drive—puts the driver and others at risk. It also described the speeding incident as a crime, not merely a traffic offence.
