Two custom 1973 Chevrolets are drawing attention at SEMA: “Chasing Gold,” a C10 pickup, and “Sweet Emotion,” a K5 Blazer. Granatelli Motorsports, Arizona Custom Car Design and Dixxon Flannel Co. collaborated on the builds for the husband-and-wife owners of Dixxon Flannel Co., who attended the unveiling and saw the finished vehicles for the first time. Visitors could vote for their favorite; at the time of the source report, the C10 had 53 percent of the votes.
“Chasing Gold” pairs a 427 LS V-8 with a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger. Its powertrain includes a Bowler 4L80E transmission, while a GSI chassis connects to a Currie 9-inch rear end. Arizona Custom Car Design handled custom fabrication, using Auto Metal Direct sheet metal, and Kolor Koalition created the truck’s blue finish. The front grille carries custom “His” badging.
The K5 Blazer, “Sweet Emotion,” is powered by a Stage 2 LS3 V-8 topped with a Granatelli Motorsports Zilla intake manifold. It uses a Roadster Shop chassis, a Bowler 4L80E transmission and a Currie 9-inch rear end. Arizona Custom Car Design worked on the body, and Kolor Koalition helped create its purple finish. Custom “hers” badging sits at the front.
Both vehicles feature gold trim, Variant wheels, Dakota Digital instrumentation and Rockford Fosgate audio systems. Apex Leather supplied the leather, while Arizona Custom Car Design built the C10’s interior and Ciadella Interiors completed the K5’s cabin. Dixxon Flannel Co. branding appears throughout, including custom flannel seat material and logos on the dashboards.
