The 2027 Genesis GV60 lineup gains the Magma, a new high-performance version that replaces last year’s Performance trim. The all-wheel-drive electric SUV produces 641 horsepower and, in Car and Driver testing, reached 60 mph in 3.0 seconds. Genesis positions it as a more polished, luxury-focused take on performance than a stripped-back pursuit of maximum speed.
The Magma uses two electric motors and an 84-kWh usable battery. Its estimated range is 220 miles per charge, compared with up to 306 miles for the rear-wheel-drive GV60 Standard. In a 75-mph highway test, the Magma covered 200 miles. The 800-volt system supports DC fast charging, with Genesis claiming a 10-to-80-percent charge in 18 minutes; testing recorded the same time from 13 to 80 percent.
Magma-specific chassis tuning, electronically managed power distribution and Pirelli 21-inch tires distinguish the performance model. It also offers Launch Control, Boost, Sprint, GT and customizable MY settings, plus a drift mode. Testers described its cornering as nimble and its overall character as more polished than the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.
Inside, the Magma gets synthetic suede upholstery with orange and gray stitching, along with orange accents on its steering wheel controls. A 27-inch display combines the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, while an optional 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen system upgrades the standard eight-speaker stereo.
Cargo space measures 24 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 54.7 cubic feet with them folded. The front trunk is much smaller, offering 0.71 cubic feet. The Magma is priced at $72,145, according to the listed specifications. Genesis provides a five-year/60,000-mile limited warranty and 10-year/100,000-mile coverage for the powertrain and battery, as well as three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance.
